218. It's My 40th Birthday! Here's 40 Things I've Learned About Life In My 40 Years
Oct 06, 2026What do you get when you combine 40 years of life, a whole lot of plot twists, some questionable amounts of tea, and a love of donkeys?
In this episode, we’re celebrating 40 years with 40 things learned along the way, from travel and comfort zones to friendships, rest, hobbies, embracing the cringe, and why you’re absolutely allowed to change your mind about what you want.
Some lessons are deep. Some are completely random. And some involve Colin the Caterpillar cake.
But underneath all 40 is one big reminder: life is short, unpredictable, and yours to create.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
- Why life rarely turns out exactly how you planned
- How travel can change your confidence and perspective
- Why gratitude matters, even on rubbish days
- Why stepping outside your comfort zone can create unexpected ripple effects
- Why you’re allowed to change your mind about your future
- Why you don’t have to monetise every hobby or passion
- Why rest shouldn’t be something you earn
- How to embrace being a beginner
- Why the boring admin is part of making your dreams happen
- Why not every opinion deserves a seat in the director’s chair
- How to make your own adventures instead of waiting for them
- Why embracing the cringe can lead to amazing things
- Why the outtakes and ordinary moments are worth remembering
- And why being alive is pretty magical
And more!
